I guess today has actually been a bit of a day off for me, as I don’t think I have opened my family history software, done any searches online, or checked any notes (I suppose I have been thinking about family history on and off during the day).
Perhaps I am burned out (not really), perhaps other more important things came up (not really), I think the cause is just the sheer amount of things that I want to do, and not having the time to do it.
The list of archives to visit grows almost daily, the list of places to visit grows almost daily, and the pile of paperwork on my desk seems to double daily.
Magazine articles to read, books to read, books to track down first then read, maps to find and check, census searches to do, certificates to order, the list goes on and on.
I think it is time to take stock of where I am with all my research projects, draw up a list of archives to visit and records to search and stop them floating around in my head and getting in the way of everything else…. and clear that pile of papers on the desk….
